Renewable/clean energy project display at CIU

An exhibition consisting of Cyprus International University (CIU) Sustainable Energy Projects prepared to raise awareness of renewable/clean energy within the scope of SCAP: Sustainable Capstone Projects was has been inaugurated. At the inauguration ceremony, students who contributed to these projects during the 2023-2024 Fall Semester were awarded certificates. 
Danfoss Turkey Air Conditioning Solutions Commercial Buildings Senior Sales Manager Serkan Yavuz, who was a guest speaker at the event, gave information about Sustainability and Environmental and Social Management at Danfoss. Speaking about the latest technologies provided by Danfoss, Yavuz also provided information about their decarbonization studies and global projects.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Keyvan Bahlouli, one of the founders and managers of the SCAP Program, stated that they initiated such a study about a year ago to increase awareness of renewable/clean energy especially among CIU students. 
Bahlouli stated that the experiences gained during this period played a major role in the success of the program and said, "In addition to making wind turbines, small wind tunnels, solar water heating and water purification systems, solar car prototypes and small-scale hydroelectric production systems, students also experimented on generating solar electricity." Bahlouli stated that the program was carried out with the support of the Faculty of Engineering, campus directorate, project and technical affairs and data processing directorate; and added that Newmosglass and Sardalya Catering companies also supported the program.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Neyre Tekbıyık Ersoy, one of the founders and managers of the program, said, "The profound interest of students SCAP and the fact that the program has reached out to many students from different disciplines are indicators of its success."
Since they accepted more projects within the scope of the program this term, Ersoy stated that the students participating in the program worked in three different categories: design and production, testing and analysis, and web page design for the SCAP program.
Ersoy explained that the groups in the design and production category implemented new projects using mechanical and electronic waste, and the groups in the testing and analysis category performed the tests of the projects carried out in previous periods within the scope of SCAP.
At the event attended by many students, SCAP program members had the opportunity to share their success stories with the audience. The ceremony ended with the awarding of certificates to students who participated in the SCAP program.
