Orientation and Airport Welcomings will officially start on Friday, September 13, 2024.

During the New Student Pick-ups and Orientations Days, while our students are enrolled in the university, they will find out more about the university, university life and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Within the scope of the program, which starts with welcoming the students from abroad at Ercan Airport, trips to introduce the Nicosia, fun concerts and presentations about the various university units are organized. It contributes to making it easier for the newly enrolled students to adapt to their education life by laying the groundwork for organizing many activities with the aim of ensuring the integration of current and new students.

Dear Student,
Welcome! Congratulations on your success and the right decision you have made by choosing Cyprus International University. We are one big family and now you have become a member of this amazing family. 
Cyprus International University, provides a student-centered education in international standards.
We have prepared a student guide with the information you will need before you embark on your new term at our university. This booklet contains short information for guidance, and you can find more detailed information by clicking here regarding the student handbook and the orientation.

CIU-NET Account

When you enroll at Cyprus International University, you are automatically allocated to a CIU-NET student account. With your CIU-NET account, you can access Webmail, Student Information System(SIS) and Moodle services. Both the first-time users and the students who forgot their password, can follow the steps below to set or reset their account password
1.    Go to ‘sis.ciu.edu.tr
2.    Click on 'Forgot my password” after click ”Student” and follow the instructions. (Your username is your student number)

Webmail

Webmail is the email service offered by our University to its students. If you are going to use the Webmail account for the first time or if you want to reset your password, you can click here for information about frequently asked questions.

Student Information System (SIS)

The Student Information System (SIS)  is a system that allows you to access all information you need as a student. With this system, you can learn your supervisor, make your interactive course registrations and see your course schedule and transcript and keep track of your academic performance. You can also have access to  all announcements and other necessary information. In addition to making it possible for you to follow your payments, SIS is also equipped with a request infrastructure that assists you to contact various units of the University.  
 
To use SIS, you must have a Webmail account. Use your CIU webmail username and password to log in. Your Webmail password and SIS password are the same.

Important note: Your username is your student number.
 
Moodle

Moodle is used to access content such as announcements and course materials related to courses offered during the semester. To use Moodle, you do not need to create a new account or reset your password. To log in, you can go to http://moodle.ciu.edu.tr and enter your student number in the user name field and the password you use for Webmail in the password field. 
 

Library
CIU Library possesses a rich collection consisting of books, journals, newspapers, e-books, e-journals, electronic and academic database resources and a catalogue scanning system is also accessible via the internet. In addition to the students, academicians and University personnel are also free to use library resources.  The library is also at the service of everyone in need with its wide collection. Especially with the wide collection of e-resources, the library can accommodate all kinds of academic and intellectual needs of our readers outside the physical spaces. As a result of the work carried out, our students can easily benefit from the entire database resources either  through subscription or just trial access. Students have to  adjust self-remote access requirements. Remote access to resources  means  library works on a 7/24 open  concept independent of place and time. Through the mutual studies implemented with TÜBİTAK EKUAL, education webinars are organized for the benefit of our academicians and students. 

Within the scope of consultation services, both individual and group orientation programs are conducted, which can also be accessed online. To consult with any library officer, you can visit the library, email library@ciu.edu.tr or dial (0392 671 11 11/2813). 
Guidance service is provided for academic studies. For this purpose, an appointment system has been established. Consultation services are provided face-to-face or to groups at the times that fit in with their schedule and urgency of their needs.

CIU Library is at the same time a member of ANKOS, KİTS, TÜBİTAK EKUAL, TÜBESS, National Collective Catalogue, KÜB (Association of Cyprus Universities) and GETEM. 

Psychological Counselling and Guidance Center (PCGC)
The aim of PCGC is to assist the students to understand their individual problems, attitudes, ideas and feelings. The Center thus contributes to the student's awareness regarding themselves and their problems. PCGC director and psychologists work together for this purpose and assist the students to cope with their problems or support their decision-making processes. In this respect, face-to-face meetings for a period of 45-50 minutes are held once a week fulfilling the necessary trust and provide the medium for privacy.  
PCGC is located on the second floor of the Central Library Building and provides service to every individual on campus between 08:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00. Within the working hours, PCGC can be contacted at 0392 671 11 11-2030/2086, pdarem@ciu.edu.tr or SIS.

STUDENT SERVICES CENTER

The Student Services Center has a NovaBank branch and NovaBank ATM and Garanti Bank ATM.

•    Student Affairs Directorate 
The Office renders services related to course registrations, Student Certificates, transcripts, military exemption certificates, registration freezing process and Graduation Certificate/Diploma. By applying to this unit, you can collect student certificates, transcripts and other special documents as needed. At the same time, the same documents can be obtained online with electronic signatures. The documents necessitating wet signatures can be collected at the Accounting Office. 

•    Registrar’s Office Directorate
The Office renders services related to course registration, Student Certificates, transcripts, military exemption certificates, registration freezing process and Graduation Certificate/Diploma. By applying to this unit, you can collect student certificates, transcripts and other special documents needed. At the same time, the same documents can be obtained online with electronic signatures. The documents necessitating wet signatures can be collected at the Accounting Office.

•    Accounting Office
The Accounting Office is at the service of the students regarding financial issues such as registration fees, tuition fees, other payments and instalments.  

P.S.: Related to the payment of University fees, the money transfers should be signed by the student, whether or not the sender is herself/himself or others including the family members and the entire transfers should be made only to the University accounts. If they wish, our students can also use SIS for Money transfers, in addition to bank transfers. The University accounts are accessible on our website.  

•    Dean of the Students Office
Providing students with a quality education and offering a high-quality university experience is the fundamental goal of CIU. For this purpose, student-centered efforts will contribute significantly to maintaining the university's commitment to student satisfaction. The primary objective of the CIU Student Dean's Office is to elevate students' contentment with campus life through an approach that places students at the forefront. This purpose involves organizing social, cultural, artistic, professional, and athletic activities that foster their personal growth. In pursuit of this objective, some of the critical priorities of the Student Dean's Office include facilitating the effective functioning of student clubs and societies, enhancing students' life skills and personal development, establishing multicultural environments for diverse events, carrying out social responsibility projects, and nurturing a profound sense of institutional belonging.

•    Student Development and Counseling Center 
The Center aims to cope with the challenges of university life and improve students’ knowledge and skills to adapt to the university and campus life most efficiently.

•    Student Counseling Coordination Office
Student Affairs is a unit under SDCC and all petitions, postage and student immigration transactions are carried out by this unit. It is at the same time a unit establishing communication between the student and the administration and assists in solving all kinds of problems encountered by the students. The unit Works on a student-centered basis.

•    Social Events and Student Clubs Coordination Office
Student Clubs is a unit under Dean of the Students Office. The students can spend their free time going to concerts, conferences, technical excursions and camping activities, at various sports tournaments, exhibitions and festivals.

•    SIS Clubs Modules
SIS Student Clubs Module is the service for accessing club details such as events, announcements and student club leaders . Club memberships is available by clicking the Join button.

•    International Center
The International Center serves as a bridge between international students and the administrative body of the university providing an avenue for students to inquire about any issues of concern to them. The Center was developed as students’ retention office to meet students' information and development needs during their studies, as well as interact with and assist students, faculty members, and other visitors to the center. The Center functions in collaboration with the International office staff to provide excellent services to students and professionals on campus.
CIU International Center is also in charge of organizing student society elections, sports, TEDX, cultural activities and other events to promote social and cultural appreciation among the university’s diverse students. Additionally, CIU Students for Sustainable Campus Project as well as the sustainability workshop are under the supervision of the International Center. This initiative provides students with an opportunity to voluntarily participate in the sustainability workshop and gain experience for their future careers.

Sports Affairs Directorate
Cyprus International University Sports Affairs Directorate is located within the CIU ARENA sports complex and organizes activities to enhance students' social development during their free time after fulfilling their academic responsibilities. It introduces students to various sports branches within its facilities to promote physical and mental well-being. The outdoor area of the complex consists of two artificial turf soccer fields, two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, two tennis courts, and courts for beach volleyball, handball, and soccer. The CIU ARENA indoor facilities include a fitness gym, indoor sports hall, heated indoor swimming pool, table tennis, aerobic studio, climbing wall, shooting range, and squash courts.

Transportation

Orientation Team

Each year, a New Student Welcoming and Orientation Program is organized by the SDCC Social Events and Student Clubs Coordination Office. A group of undergraduate and graduate students serve as peer counsellors to new students and their family members to help to implement the program.

Campus Resources

High-speed internet with fiber infrastructure and hot-spot and wireless internet is provided free of charge all around campus.

Lake View is a student cafeteria that offers students dining options with various menus throughout the week.

There are cafeterias, restaurants, canteens, cafes and similar facilities on the campus that will meet students’ nutritional needs at different times of the day.

The doctor and nurse assigned at the Health Center provide all kinds of health and first aid interventions, as well as outpatient services free of charge.

In the Cinema Hall located in the Student Center, free movies are selected by cinema lovers and displayed every week.

Molto Supermarket allows students the opportunity to meet their every need without leaving the campus.

The on-campus bookstore provides students with all books and stationery related services.

The security guards working on campus and at the dormitories 24/7 provide a peaceful and safe life.

In our university, which operates with a student-oriented service concept, all student services and all units where students can receive services, are located together in a single center; the ‘Student Services Building’.

The Psychological Counseling and Guidance Center assists students who seek help in solving their problems, within the framework of individual therapy or counseling on a confidential basis. Those active registered CIU students can arrange their counseling sessions online as free of charge between 08.00-13.00 and 14.00-17.00, at least once a week for 45-50 minutes, face-to face or online during periods that cannot be done face-to-face (pandemic periods, etc.) in the comfort of their homes through a digital platform. You can reach the center by calling 671 11 11/ 2030/2086 extensions, sending an e-mail to hkorusan@ciu.edu.tr or via SIS.

Free shuttle services are available between the CIU Campus, Nicosia and Famagusta city center every day of the week. Wireless internet service is also provided free of charge in the CIU shuttle vehicles.

Resident Permit Procedures in North Cyprus

Visa and Residency Information
Before arrival, students should know that all flights to Northern Cyprus are connected via Turkey. Therefore, you must obtain a Republic of Turkey TRANSIT VISA, depending on your nationality. In order to do this, you should visit or contact the nearest Turkish Embassy/Consulate, with your letter of acceptance issued by the university.

Residence Permits & Health Insurance
Please follow the instructions below for the Student Residence Permit and Health Insurance for both new and current students.

1. At the port of entry to the TRNC, submit your university acceptance letter or invitation document to the migration officer, to get a student entry visa that is valid for 90 days.

2. After getting a student entry visa, you should complete your student registration procedures at the university.

3. After completing your university registration, you should register to the ONLINE IMMIGRATION SYSTEM at https://icisleri.gov.ct.tr/ Main Menu > Online Transactions > Student Permits

   a. For first time registration, click “New Registration” button and fill in the required information. After this, you can login to the system with the username and password sent by SMS or E-MAIL.

   b. ”. Students who have registered before can click the “Login” button here and log in with the username and password they have previously received.

4. After logging in to the system, you must follow and complete the steps described there.

5. Please do not forget to take a “Foreign Student Registration Number” on the immigration system, and please do not lose this number. You will need this number in all official transactions.

6. Follow the steps below for getting a health report.
   a. If you have a valid health report, click “I have a valid health report”
      i. Please go to the hospital, in the district in which the university is located.
     ii. Get your health report certified in that hospital.
     iii. Make your payment for “health report fee”, via the system.
   b. If you do not have a valid health report, click “I do not have a valid health report”
     i. Make your payment for “laboratory tests fee”, via the system.
     ii. Get your lab tests performed in the laboratory specified by the system, which provides its name and address.
7. According to the health report results, make your payment for “immigration fee”, via the system.
8. When your Student Permit is ready, your Immigration will be shown in the system. You must print your Student Permit yourself and carry it with you at all times, and have it online on your phone.
Important points to pay attention to:

•    Make sure you entered your passport information correctly.
•    Make sure you entered the name of your mother and father correctly.
•    You must enter the login information in CAPITAL letters.
