“Drug Detectives” en route to Finland
The “Drug Detectives” project that that focused on an innovative transformation in health education using XR and artificial intelligence technologies under the leadership of Dr. Ahmet Boşnak won first place in the Startup Competition organized by the Cyprus International University (CIU). The team that won the first prize in the competition also seized the opportunity to introduce their project at the Slush Startup event in Finland, one of the largest entrepreneurship events in Europe.
The first three promising projects were awarded cash prizes in the CIU Startup Competition organized with the support of Metgin Ltd. and 12 Monkeys Startup Studio. Each of the 24 projects that applied for the competition was evaluated by a jury consisting of experts in their fields, including Ahmet Bilgen, Derin Yeşilada, Mustafa Erk, Mehmet Boyacı, Caner Seren, Orkun Bulut and Necati Günkan. This distinguished jury determined the most successful initiative by taking into account the impact the projects would create in the real world.
The event was held at the CIU Çevik Uraz Center where CIU Startup Studio CEO Tamer Garip, Tooken Founding Partner Orkun Bulut and EHUB Asia Managing Partner Caner Seren Varol shared their experiences with young entrepreneurs and provided information about entrepreneurship adventures and business strategies. At the reception held after the event, speakers had the opportunity to connect with young innovators by responding to questions coming from the floor.
CEO Tamer Garip stated that the CIU Startup Competition was the first Pitch Battle event held at the university and that the high quality of the applications made the selection process difficult. "With the resources, skills, and potential we currently possess, we are fully capable of accomplishing significant goals or making a major impact in Cyprus. If you have an idea, contact us," said Garip, emphasizing that this competition and the CIU Startup Studio will continue to support local entrepreneurship and innovative ideas.
