CIU Tops Architecture Education in Northern Cyprus
The Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture at Cyprus International University (CIU) has achieved a remarkable success in the INSPIRELI World Architecture University Ranking 2024–2025. Ranked 31st among 1,444 architecture schools worldwide, the faculty has secured a place among the world's top 100 architecture schools while also ranking first in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Unlike traditional university rankings, the INSPIRELI World Architecture University Ranking is an independent evaluation system that measures students' achievements in international architecture and design competitions. The ranking is based on projects assessed by international juries, competition awards, finalist achievements, and the overall quality of design work. As such, it serves as an important indicator of both students' international performance and the quality of education provided by the faculty.
Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture at CIU, stated that this achievement is the result of the outstanding work produced by the students as well as the dedicated efforts of the academic staff.
"This achievement is a significant reflection of our students' creativity, design skills, and academic excellence demonstrated on international platforms. Since the INSPIRELI ranking is based directly on student performance, the result confirms that the education offered by our faculty meets international standards. Ranking 31st among 1,444 architecture schools worldwide, earning a place among the world's top 100 architecture schools, and being ranked first in the TRNC are all tremendous sources of pride for both our students and our academic staff."
Prof. Dr. Atakara also emphasized that this success stems not only from the dedication of the students but also from the faculty's project-based educational approach and its strong commitment to encouraging participation in international competitions. He added that the faculty aims to achieve even greater success in international competitions in the coming years.
Having already gained international recognition through numerous achievements, the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture at Cyprus International University has once again reinforced its strong position in global architectural education with its outstanding performance in the INSPIRELI World Architecture University Ranking 2024–2025.
