CIU Ranked between 301-400 in the ShanghaiRanking 2025

Cyprus International University (CIU) achieved significant success worldwide by ranking 301-400 in the field of Environmental Science and Engineering in the 2025 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, independently prepared by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, which ranks the world's top universities based on their academic performance.
Cyprus International University (CIU), has achieved a significant success by ranking between 301-400 in the 2025 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, independently compiled by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. The ranking evaluates the world’s top universities based on their academic performance, and CIU has been placed in the Environmental Science and Engineering field.
The ranking includes 57 fields, such as Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences, as well as emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. The evaluation criteria include education quality, faculty quality, research output, and per capita performance. In the Shanghai Ranking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, CIU is the only Turkish university to be placed in the 301-400 band  in Environmental Science and Engineering and ranks first among universities on the island of Cyprus to be included in this list.
CIU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Erbuğ Çelebi, commented on this achievement: “This success not only reflects our university's academic ambition but also demonstrates our environmental awareness, commitment to sustainability, and vision for the future.”
CIU stands out for embracing sustainability as a core principle across all its processes, from campus life to research activities, energy management to waste reduction. This comprehensive approach  is materialized through its Sustainable Energy Research Center and the "Students for a Sustainable Campus (SSC)" initiative. These units guide efforts in renewable energy use, water conservation, and recycling, making sustainability an inseparable part of campus culture. The university’s commitment is also reflected in concrete applications such as photovoltaic solar power plants, wastewater recycling, and reducing single-use plastics. All of these efforts are crowned by the achievement in the Shanghai Ranking, showcasing CIU as an internationally recognized institution in terms of both environmental responsibility and academic excellence.
